Sen. Proos, Brandywine students talk community involvement

LANSING—Students in Dave Roeder’s civics class at Brandywine High School talked with Sen. John Proos on Monday about community involvement.

“I want to thank the wonderful Brandywine High School civics students and their teacher, Dave Roeder, for inviting me to meet with them and talk about how they can help in their community,” said Proos R-St. Joseph. “Our students represent the future of Michigan and America, and it was great to be able to sit down and have an engaging conversation with smart and enthusiastic young adults about the importance of getting involved.”

Proos recently supported a Senate resolution designating September 11-17 as “Michigan Patriot Week.” The week runs from Sept. 11 to Constitution Day and is intended to celebrate the America’s founding principles and the patriots who acted and often died to establish and defend the greatest country on Earth.

Proos said he enjoys meeting students and discussing how the local, state and federal systems work and the vital role that citizens play in the process.
