Proos reads Dr. Seuss to area children to celebrate National Reading Month

LANSING—Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, celebrated National Reading Month on Friday by reading a classic Dr. Seuss book to young children at Rainbow Child Care Center in St. Joseph.

“Reading to children at a young age has been shown to generate an interest in learning, a creative spirit and a confidence in academic ability later in life,” Proos said. “Considering the proven relationship between literacy and success in school and life, it was fitting to read ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ by Dr. Seuss.”

In an effort to promote the importance of reading, Proos will be reading to children this month throughout Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties.
