Proos honors NCP Coatings on its 70th anniversary

LANSING, Mich. Sen. John Proos recently presented a special tribute to Nat and Ben Hannewyk in recognition of the 70th anniversary of NCP Coatings in Niles.

“NCP Coatings is a great example of the family-owned-and-operated businesses that are the heart and soul of our local communities and our economy,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “It is an honor to recognize NCP Coatings for their three generations of dedication to Southwest Michigan and commitment to excellence.”

Founded by C.M. “Marvin” Hannewyk II, Niles Chemical Paint became a corporation in 1948. Now known as NCP Coatings, the company continues to operate as a privately held business, producing coatings that protect a wide variety of items — from industrial goods and equipment to nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers.

The tribute was signed by Proos; Rep. Dave Pagel, R-Berrien Springs; U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph; and Gov. Rick Snyder.
