LANSING—After the Michigan Senate approved legislation on Thursday to reform the fee process in Michigan’s automobile insurance system in an effort to contain costs to consumers, Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, issued the following statement:
“This is about standing up for Michigan drivers and families by making reforms that will protect consumers from fraud and eliminate uncertainty in the current insurance claim process.
“Importantly, this reform strengthens transparency for citizens coping with insurance claims and ensures those covered under the previous system continue to receive their same benefits.
“Reforming our auto insurance system has been discussed for years. This is a positive first step.”
