Proos: 400 jobs to be created by expansion of local manufacturer

LANSING—Sen. John Proos on Tuesday applauded Forest River Manufacturing for their expansion and their plan to invest more than $7 million in a project to create nearly 400 jobs in White Pigeon.

“This is outstanding news for the hard-working people of St. Joseph County and the entire region,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “I applaud the leaders of Forest River Manufacturing for their commitment to the White Pigeon community and the entire state, and I extend to them a big ‘thank you’ on behalf of Southwest Michigan residents.”

Forest River Manufacturing is one of America’s leading manufacturers of recreational vehicles, pontoon boats, cargo trailers and buses.

“This investment is another example of our growing economy – which has created more than 300,000 private sector jobs and 75,000 manufacturing jobs in Michigan in less than four years,” Proos said. “Forest River is giving local residents more opportunities to live and work here in Southwest Michigan.

“Ensuring that students and existing Michigan workers have the skills necessary to get these types of jobs is why I will continue to promote career and technical education as an important part of meeting the workforce needs of a growing economy.”
