LANSING, Mich. — Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, has released a public service announcement encouraging Southwest Michigan men to put a priority on their health, including getting regular exercise and medical checkups.
“Although more than half of all premature deaths among American men are preventable, most men do not put a priority on their health.
“June 12-18 is Men’s Health Week, and it’s a time to raise awareness of health issues facing men.
“I encourage all men to get regular exercise and medical checkups. After all, we men are 24 percent less likely to go to the doctor than women, and nearly 35 percent of men 20 years and older are obese.
“Stay fit; stay healthy; stay active and be an example to your children of the importance of healthy habits.”
