LANSING—Sen. John Proos welcomed the 2013 Blossomtime Festival pageant finalists to the state Capitol on Wednesday.
“The Blossomtime Festival is a wonderful family event that attracts thousands of visitors to Southwest Michigan in celebration of the region’s beauty and rich agricultural heritage,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “Hosting these outstanding young people at the Capitol is always a highlight of the year. I am always proud and impressed with their poise and enthusiasm. Most importantly, these fine young men and women are great ambassadors of Michigan’s Great Southwest and its people.”
The 107-year-old Blossomtime Festival is the oldest and largest multi-community festival in Michigan. This year’s festival began on April 28 and concluded with the Grand Floral Parade on May 4.
In 2001, the Blossomtime Scholarship Fund began awarding more than $10,000 in scholarships each year. For more information visit: www.blossomtimefestival.org.
