“B&L Information Systems is an example of an innovative and successful small business that is providing jobs here in Southwest Michigan,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “Small businesses like B&L are the engine driving our economy. This local company is helping grow the economy by creating software that gives hundreds of metal casters in 35 states and five countries the ability to operate more efficiently and profitably.”
After touring the Bridgman facility, Proos and Laney discussed important issues facing the company and the state, including roads, expanding high-speed Internet and STEM education.
“It is often local business leaders who know best about the demand for individuals to fill jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” Proos said. “The jobs are there; we must educate our young people for success in the workforce.”
Proos has introduced legislation to make Michigan the first state in the nation to offer high school graduates a STEM certification on their diplomas.
