LANSING—Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, meets with business leaders, students and educators at a Friday event celebrating Michigan’s manufacturing industry.
Last week, Proos sponsored a resolution declaring Oct. 4 as “Michigan Manufacturers Day.” The manufacturing industry is currently responsible for one-fifth of Michigan’s gross state product and direct jobs for more than 550,000 residents.
“We must ensure that we maintain a skilled workforce,” said Proos. “That is why I have been a long-time advocate of expanding career and technical education (CTE) in schools and sponsored Senate Bill 66 that would make CTE more accessible to Michigan students.”
