LANSING—Sen. John Proos congratulated the village of Cassopolis on Wednesday for being awarded $127,800 in Community Development Block Grant funds by the Michigan Strategic Fund for infrastructure improvements toward a local expansion project by Schwintek Inc.
“This is outstanding news for people in Cassopolis looking for a good job,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “I applaud the Cassopolis leaders for working together with the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Fund and Schwintek to make possible this invaluable training opportunity. I also want to thank Schwintek for their commitment to the Cassopolis community and the entire state.”
Schwintek manufactures automatic bimini tops for the boating industry and is expanding its Cassopolis facility due to increased demand. Schwintek’s PWR-ARM is the only fully automated bimini top in production and is manufactured using the most advanced technology in the industry.
The expansion will generate a total capital investment of $750,000 and create 10 jobs. The company has agreed that at least six of the jobs will be held by low to moderate income persons. For information on careers with Schwintek Inc., visit www.schwintek.com.
“These grants are extremely competitive,” Proos said. “This opportunity is the direct result of hard work and cooperation on the part of Cassopolis leaders and Schwintek officials, and I extend a huge ‘thank you’ on behalf of the people of Southwest Michigan.”
