A tour of the county’s Swift and Sure and drug specialty courts.
TODAY, Monday, June 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.
St. Joseph County Courthouse
125 W. Main St.
Proos is also available for phone interviews. To schedule a phone interview, call Proos’ office at 517-373-6960.
Proos continues his efforts to redesign the state’s criminal justice system. Swift and Sure, a system of immediate sanctions for individuals on probation, was established in Michigan as a result of 2012 legislation sponsored by Proos. The program gives voluntary participants the opportunity to avoid prison time by abiding by an established set of sanctions should they break the terms of their probation.
Proos led the effort to pass bipartisan reforms designed to divert individuals away from prison and give them the best possible chance to succeed. The reforms signed in May included a measure to expand the Swift and Sure program to parolees.
